This is kind of scary… but important…

anger-management

I almost don’t want to tell thisbecause it’s kind of a downer.

Have you been in a situation where in you are at the end of the stick? Your emotions could get to a point that you exhibit extreme anger and you are unable to control?

Of course you had.

Look, you have to face some things in life to avoid unpleasant consequences.

Anger management is one of those things. Here are some strategies to keep your anger at bay:

  •     Relaxation – you can engage on simple relaxation tools that can help calm you down. Here are some simple steps that you can try:

o   Breathe deeply from your diaphragm since breathing from the chest will not relax you.

o   Repeat a calm word or phrase repeatedly while breathing deeply. You can say “relax…” or “take it easy…” and repeat the process.

o   Visualize a relaxing experience either from memory or your imagination.

o   Stretch your muscles by doing simple yoga-like exercises that will calm yourself.

  •       Change the Way You Think – it is not easy but it works. This is just putting a different perspective of the situation. It is like reminding yourself that getting angry won’t fix anything and will not make you feel better. You have to think logically rather than irrationally.
  •      Problem Solving – it is a cultural belief that every problem has a solution. If you face a problem where you cannot handle make sure you think first before being frustrated about it. Make a plan and check your progress while resolving the issue as best you can. Do not expect you will get the solution right away since there are issues that involve patience. Make sure your approach are for best intentions.
  •         Using Humor – using sensible humor can defuse rage in a number of situations. Using correct execution it can help unknot a tense situation and bring a more positive experience. Anger is a serious emotion but it is often associated by ideas that, if examined, can make you laugh.

You think you know the TRUTH… Think again.

over-confidence

We have to face the TRUTH…

When we see our business growing we thought that we have predicted what is going to happen. We are certain that we had everything planned and it will succeed.

And in REALITY…

Confidence is important to engage in situations that needed the most and it offers a lot of opportunities in business that will make it grow. This is probably because most of us go through our lives watching confident people succeed, whether it is political candidates winning in the elections, cancer patients beating their illness or athletes earning medals. There is so much evidence that there is a correlation between confidence and success although it is easy to make a mistake as well that confidence can cause success in general.

On the other hand…

Overconfidence can give you an illusion of success which will lead to poor outcomes later on. It can be a cause if you thought you already have the business established but did not look on factors that will affect it. An entrepreneur who becomes overconfident can be like a basketball athlete that thought he has a “hot hand”. He will think with this theory he can surely make more successful shots but statistically a “hot hand” theory does not exist. With this concept in mind the athlete takes more risks thus decreases his chances for success.

In the business world 80% of businesses go bankrupt in the first 5 years and another 5 years after. As a result only 10% of businesses last more than 15 years which is alarming.

In order for you to see confidence as an ally you have to partner it with preparedness. You need to look at every angle of the situation and not just banking that your business is a success by looking at a few factors. Preparedness and anticipation is the key to fight overconfidence and will boost your chances that you will not fall into its traps.

You can also learn from professionals who have been successful in the past and learn the correct balance of being confident and prepared. With this you increase your knowledge and know what is coming before it does.

When you’re depressed…

depression

We always thought that depression is…

…only a simple emotional condition that can be treated easily. But today it is considered as a serious medical condition that triggers negative human emotion. It may lead to serious consequences even death. Today anyone can be affected by this condition.

Here are interesting facts that you must know about depression and its effects:

A depressed person is constantly feeling worthless, hopeless, anxious, angry and sad to the level of being suicidal. It is more than just feeling blue and it affects more than 100 million people worldwide. This person can have headaches, body aches, high blood pressure, fatigue and always feeling tired. You can see various symptoms of a depressed person by observing simple things like lack of concentration, being always forgetful, irritability, being overly negative all the time, either wanting to eat all the time or none at all, and loss of enthusiasm on all things.

It is incredibly hard to live with depression. There are also different levels of depression depending on the person who has it. While some feel vulnerable most of the time, some depressed people will just feel numb or devoid of any emotion. Telling these people that it is okay or “get over it” is not okay. Their depression is not under their control and they mostly spend time trying to find out why.

Depressed people need to be assured that their way of thinking is just because of the sickness. If they’ve already accepted the fact that they’re depressed, their family and friends need to show support, and let them know that you’ve got their back. It’s dicey if you know that the person is depressed and the patient doesn’t, they need to be handled with utmost care.
